In 2026, new commercial games are still arriving on Amiga, and this time the project brings with it a name that belongs to the history of the platform’s music. Kaboomania, the new maze-bomber developed by Fancy Factory, is officially available from August 13 for Amiga 500, Amiga 1200 and Amiga CD32.

Published by APC&TCP, the physical edition comes in a package that includes the game on CD for CD32, along with ADF disk images and a WHDLoad version on the disc, an A5 manual in German and English, an A3 poster and a sticker. For those who want to use original hardware, additional floppy disk versions for OCS and AGA systems are also available, together with a USB card.

Kaboomania takes the classic maze-bomber formula and expands it with a generous amount of content. The game features 1,000 levels across five themed worlds, numerous enemies and collectible items, as well as a local Battle mode supporting up to four players. More information and the digital version are available on the official Kaboomania page on itch.io.

The two main Amiga versions also offer some technical differences. On Amiga 500, the game uses 32 colors, while the AGA edition designed for Amiga 1200 and CD32 reaches 128 colors. The OCS version retains the same gameplay structure, adapting animations, loading times and some features to the capabilities of the original hardware.

One of the most interesting aspects of the project is its music. Chris Huelsbeck, the composer behind some of the most recognizable soundtracks of the 16-bit era and known for titles such as Turrican, The Great Giana Sisters, Apidya and Katakis, created a brand-new soundtrack specifically for Kaboomania. The Amiga versions of the tracks were converted into ProTracker MOD format by Fabian Del Priore, Huelsbeck’s long-time collaborator.

APC&TCP also released Kaboomania: The Bombastic Soundtrack separately, an audio CD featuring 14 tracks with both the arranged versions and the Original Sound Versions in MOD format. Rather than simply bringing back classic compositions, the project gives Huelsbeck the opportunity to create new music for an Amiga game.

Kaboomania is the result of a successful Kickstarter campaign completed last April, which exceeded its original goal. The project raised €7,631 compared to the initial €3,500 target, supported by 96 backers.

The boxed edition is available through Amiga Shop for €29, while the soundtrack CD is sold separately for €14.95.

APC&TCP also produced floppy versions of Kaboomania for Amiga OCS and AGA systems.

For a platform created more than forty years ago, seeing new games, physical editions and even new music from one of its most representative composers still arriving in 2026 is a clear sign of the vitality of its community.
